Get Rid of That Leaven! Passover Concludes - Feast of Unleavened Bread Begins

NOTE: On God's calendar of time, Passover concludes today,

(Sunday, April 17, 2022) at sunset.

At sundown the Day of Passover concluded. Jesus had fulfilled prophecy as our Passover Lamb, dying at 3pm, the same time the high priest sacrificed the Passover lamb for the nation’s sins. With sundown approaching, Yeshua’s body was removed from the cross and entombed because at sundown the Feast of Unleavened Bread began, and that day (Aviv 15) is a High Sabbath, meaning no work was to be done no matter what day of the week it fell. (See John 19:31 and Lev 23:4-7). The slain Passover lamb was placed into an oven; Yeshua our Passover Lamb was placed in a tomb.

By the end of the Passover Day all leaven (yeast) was to be removed from all the homes in Israel. The object lesson was to get rid of all the sin in our lives as well.

Therefore יהושע (Yeshua, Jesus)said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, Mosheh (Moses) did not give you the bread out of the heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread out of the heaven. “For the bread of Elohim (God) is He who comes down out of the heaven and gives life to the world.” So they said to Him, “Master, give us this bread always.” And יהושע said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall not get hungry at all, and he who believes in Me shall not get thirsty at all.

Shaul, better known as the apostle Paul, used God's object lesson of Passover, that is, leaven in bread dough as an analogy for sin in our lives, when he wrote to the church at Corinth:

(6) Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the entire lump?  (7)  Therefore cleanse out the old leaven, so that you are a new lump, as you are unleavened. For also Messiah our Pesach (Passover Lamb) was slaughtered for us.  (8)  So then let us celebrate the festival, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of evil and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
